'II European Regiment XXXIV Regiment Light Infantry'

From 'Miscellaneous', one of three portfolios of uniform and badge illustrations collectively entitled 'Dress of the Madras Army', 1846-1852.

The portfolio contains lithographic plates produced to illustrate the dress regulations for the Madras Artillery and the Madras Engineers, together with the original drawings inscribed 'Adjutant General's Office, Fort St George' and dated 1846-1852.

The portfolio also contains 25 plates from a large series showing shako, shoulder-belt and waistbelt plates together with details of embroidery on Madras Infantry uniforms. Some of these are dated 1856-1857. A former owner of the portfolio, Lieutenant General Sir G F MacMunn, has added drawings which he had collected and collated - many of these are annotated by him.
