Cavalry trooper's sword, 15th (King's) Light Dragoons, 1775 (c)
As the 18th century progressed, dragoons' horseback role became more important, so swords became their main weapon. Dragoons used them when charging.
The hilt design of this sword is of German origin and was also used for the Pattern 1788 sword. This sword may have been issued to the regiment as early as 1773.
