'Review of the British troops at Montmatre [sic], near Paris, by the Duke of Wellington 21st October 1815'

Aquatint drawn by G Scharf, engraved by M Dubourg, 'published and sold March 25th 1817'. From 'Historic, Military and Naval anecdotes, of personal valour, bravery and particular incidents which occurred to the armies of Great Britain, 1803-15, and her allies, in the last long-contested war terminating with the Battle of Waterloo', published by Edward Orme, 1819.

Following the Battle of Waterloo and the final defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte, Britain, Austria, Russia and Prussia met to formulate the Treaty of Paris in October 1815. The treaty, signed on 20 November 1815, set French reparation payments and confirmed the continued military occupation of France. Wellington was appointed to command the army of occupation. The occupation ended in 1818 when France was deemed to have met the conditions of the treaty.
