Mess tin, 3rd County of London Imperial Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), 1899-1902
Tinned steel construction, with a rectangular wire carrying handle which fits into loops on either side.
The mess tin, with its leather case,contains a mug and is described as a 'Tea Billy' or 'Patrol Tin' in the Army and Navy Catalogue, 1907. This example was owned by Regimental Sergeant-Major C Fergusson of 3rd County of London Imperial Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), and used by him during the Boer War (1899-1902).
