Lieutenant Pat Brodie is listed in his unit's war diary as having been wounded on 11 July 1944 following a German counter-attack on Eterville in Normandy. German armour, including three Tiger tanks, were repulsed with 'heavy casualties'.
This photograph was taken in England prior to Operation OVERLORD, the invasion of mainland Europe in June 1944.
