Photograph by Major Wilfred Herbert James Sale, MC, 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry (Sharpshooters), World War Two, North West Europe, 1944.
Major Davies pauses during a quiet moment in the Normandy Campaign. Although commanding the headquarters squadron of 4th Armoured Brigade he was originally a regimental officer of the 3rd County of London Yeomanry. He wears regimental insignia of the regiment, including brass collar badges, not normally worn on battledress. He also wears non-regulation corderoy trousers which were popular with officers of the regiment during the Second World War.
