6-inch gun in action at Reninghelst, 15 June 1916

Lantern slide, World War One, Western Front (1914-1918), 1916.

The 6-inch Mark VII Gun was originally a naval weapon but it was mounted on a carriage in 1915 to help meet the demand for heavy guns on the Western Front. Operated by the Royal Garrison Artillery, it remained in service until the end of the war. Reninghelst is near Ypres in Belgium.
