'County of Kent, Royal Engineers, Recruits Now Wanted', 1910 (c)
This recruiting poster aims to persuade men to join the Territorial Force's (formed in 1908) engineering units in Kent. Five companies of the latter, lettered 'A' to 'E', were based in Tonbridge, Ashford and Chatham. The Royal Engineers performed a huge range of tasks so this poster accordingly calls on skilled tradesmen like electricians, engine drivers, blacksmiths, carpenters, fitters, draughtsmen and plumbers to enlist.
