Captain Walter Robert Butler Doran, Royal Irish Regiment, 1893 (c)

Walter Doran was commissioned into the Royal Irish Rifles on 10 May 1882. He saw service in the Egyptian War (1882), the 1st Sudan War (1884-1885), the 2nd Sudan War of 1898 and the Boer War (1899-1902). He then served as a general staff officer in 5th Division and between 1912 and 1914 commanded 2nd Battalion, the Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians). During World War One (1914-1918) he commanded 17th Infantry Brigade on the Western Front. He retired as an honorary brigadier on 4 March 1919 and died in 1945.
