Formation badge of 9th Armoured Division, 1940 (c)

The badge is believed to originate from the 'Pandas' polo team of which several officers of the first unit to wear it, the 1st Motor Machine Gun Brigade, had been members. This unit, and its emblem, were transferred to 9th Armoured Division on its formation on 1 December 1940.
