Formation badge, Midland Training Brigade Group, 1950 (c)

Printed cotton, 1950 (c).

When the infantry was reorganised in 1947, training brigade groups were established, either on geographical proximity or associated traditions. The badge was worn on the left sleeve, below the shoulder title.

This badge comprises a green shield upon which there is a smaller blue shield bearing a red cross. In the four quarters of the shield are the white Roman numerals, representing the old foot numbers of the Regiments within the Brigade. These are reading from the top right to left, VI (Royal Warwickshire Regiment), X (Royal Lincolnshire Regiment), XVII (Royal Leicestershire Regiment), XLV (Sherwood Foresters). The dark green edge to the badge also represents the Sherwood Foresters.
