Battledress blouse, Staff Sergeant, 1940
Khaki wool serge manufactured by Montague Burren Limited, Leeds, 1940.
Resembling workman's overalls, this blouse was worn by the British Army from the 1930s to the 1960s. It was usually worn in cooler climates.
Dating from the World War Two (1939-1945) this example has wool cloth staff sergeant's rank badges on each arm with three worsted chevrons, seven flamed grenade and a monarchial crown, surmounted by red and blue arm of service stripes.
