The Queen talks to a veteran standing next to a 'Tilly', an Austin 10 light utility truck which one of the types of vehicle Princess Elizabeth trained on when she took a a driving and vehicle maintenance course at Aldershot during World War Two (1939-1945).

Queen Elizabeth II's visit to the Women's Royal Army Corps in May 1979 was to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Association representing the Queen Mary Auxiliary Army, Auxiliary Territorial Service and Women's Royal Army Corps. The Queen unveiled a plaque and met service personnel and fellow veterans of the Women's Corps.

Guildford in Surrey was the home depot of the Women's Royal Army Corps (WRAC). The Queen Elizabeth Barracks opened in 1964 and new WRAC recruits undertook their basic training there until 1992 when the Corps was disbanded.
