Plague Duty Certificate, Private William Randall, 1st Battalion, Wiltshire Regiment, Hyderabad, 1897

A major Bubonic plague epidemic spread to India in 1896. The document certifies that Randall 'was employed on Plague Duty in Hyderabad from 14th April 1897 to 20th May 1897 and that he did very good work'. It records that Randall 'was chiefly employed on Sanitary Duty'.
