Silver hand standard finial, replica, 1921

A replica of the Persian finial captured by the Poona Horse at Koosh-ab during the Persian War of 1857. It was made from melted down mess silver in India in 1921.

The original surmounted the standard of the 1st Khushgai Regiment of Fars. The palm is engraved with Arabic script, 'Yad Allah fawquar aydhim', (the hand of God is above all things). It is engraved on the back of the wrist with 'R' to distinguish it from the original.
