Watercolour by Colonel George Cadogan (1814-1880), 1855.

Marshal Aimable Jean Jacques Pelissier (1794-1864) succeeded Marshal Canrobert as French commander in the Crimea in May 1855. General Sir James Simpson commanded British forces in the Crimea immediately after the death of Lord Raglan in June 1855.
