Decorative glass door knob, Sevastopol, 1855

This knob was removed from a house in Sevastopol by William Smith Rodway of the Naval Brigade during the Crimean War (1854-1856). Sevastopol was the home of the Russian Tsar's Black Sea Fleet and was captured on 9 September 1855 after a long siege.
