Brass commemorative plaque in memory of officers and men of the 58th Frontier Force Rifles, 5th Punjab Infantry and 5th Battalion 13th Frontier Force Rifles, 1849-1947

Brass plaque inscribed, 'To the glory of God and in memory of those officers, Indian officers and other ranks who gave their lives in service of their country 1849-1947. This tablet was erected to replace those memorials which were destroyed when the church at Kohat was burnt down in 1938'. The plaque also bears the badges of the three units.

After the Partition of India in August 1947 the Frontier Force units were divided between the Indian and Pakistan Armies. It was then decided that the memorials to the Punjab Frontier Force, 'The Piffers', erected in the garrison churches should be relocated to England, and in 1951 they were installed in the Parish Church of St Luke's, Chelsea where they remained until their removal to the National Army Museum.
