Sweetheart brooch, Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, 1941 (c)
Silver bugle horn with cord above a scroll with the unit title, 'Oxford & Bucks L I', on a blue enamel ground.
Small, jewelled representations of regimental and unit badges of this type were given by serving officers to their wives and girlfriends. This is example is associated with Michael Handford who joined the Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in 1941 and was commissioned into the Royal Army Service Corps in 1943, he was a substantive Captain in the Reserve of Officers until 1977.
