Shirt worn by Sergeant Major Arthur Nicholls whilst serving with the Abu Dhabi Defence Force (ADDF), 1970 (c)

Arthur Harry Nicholls, a World War Two veteran who had fought in Italy and at Arnhem, was seconded to the Trucial Oman States from the Royal Artillery in 1967. He then went on to serve with the Abu Dhabi Defence Force for two years. The latter had been established in 1965 by officers from the Trucial Oman Scouts.
