Tents, probably in Bangalore, India, June 1942

Pen and watercolour sketch by Private Wilfrid J Myers, 6 June 1942.

One of a group of sketches drawn by Private Myers while on active service with the Royal Berkshire Regiment (Princess Charlotte of Wales's), with Wingate's Chindits in Burma. Private Myers' sketches provide a visual diary of his military service. He drew with whatever materials he could find, even, on occasion, with camouflage cream or blanco. This view of camp life shows the view from inside his tent. You can see two more tents with figures and charpoys (litters) inside, and a building in the background. Myers believed that it was drawn in Bangalore in India.
