A member of the Aden Police, 1967 (c)

The Aden Police assisted British Army units and the Federal Regular Army in their attempts to defeat a nationalist revolt in the newly formed Federation of South Arabia (Aden colony and the sheikhdoms of the Aden Protectorates). The police and federal forces faced Egyptian-funded and trained revolutionaries who in many cases bore arms more modern and more effective than those at their disposal. The campaign continued until the British withdrawal in November 1967.

From a collection of 110 photographs collected by Private M Arnold, the 3rd Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment; collected whilst serving in Aden, October 1966 to May 1967.
