Prisoner of war registration card, issued at Oflag VII C, 17 June 1940
This registration card was issued to Lieutenant (later Captain) Antony Raymond Jabez-Smith (1914-2000), 1st Battalion, Queen Victoria's Rifles, King's Royal Rifle Corps, who was captured at Calais in May 1940. He was a prisoner of war in Germany from 1940 until 1945. Oflag VII-C was a POW camp for officers located in Laufen Castle in south-eastern Bavaria. Most of the prisoners were British officers captured during the French campaign.
