Rugby in Maysan Province, 2006
Photograph by Corporal Anthony Boocock Royal Logistic Corps, 20th Armoured Brigade Media Ops, 3 August 2006.
Troops serving with The Queen's Royal Hussars Battle Group at Camp Abu Naji, Maysan Province, play an early evening game of 'touch' rugby on the base's helicopter landing pad. In touch rugby the players do not tackle in the traditional physical way, but instead touch their opponents using their hands. From the Army's perspective this is a useful activity as it keeps men fit but avoids injuries that could remove men from active service.
