Cap badge, Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians), 1914 (c)

Lord Strathcona's Horse was founded in 1900 at the personal expense of Donald Smith, Baron Strathcona and Mount Royal, for service in the Boer War (1899-1902). It later served on the Western Front with the Canadian Cavalry Brigade during World War One (1914-1918).
