A reserve platoon of 1st Battalion The Irish Guards wait for the order to move out in support of a fire fight occurring just one city block away to the viewer's right.

A detachment of the Irish Guards deployed to Kuwait in February 2003 with 7th Armoured Brigade and took part in the invasion of neighbouring Iraq the following month. They remained on occupation duties in Iraq until June.
