Soldier of the Queen, 1959

A head and shoulders portrait of a young Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) mechanic repairing broken fuses inside an armoured vehicle at night whilst illuminated by a lantern. All British armoured units have REME fitters attached during field deployments. REME soldiers are responsible for the maintenance, servicing and inspection of almost every electrical and mechanical piece of equipment used by the Army.
