'Ghetto Blaster', soldiers from 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment rest in Char Coucha, Helmand Province, 2011

Digital photograph by Sergeant Rupert Frere, Royal Logistic Corps, 2011.

Soldiers from 2 Para rest in a secured compound in Char Coucha during Operation COBRA SAFE VILLAGE (KAPCHA KWANDIKALAY) in January 2011. British and Afghan forces were involved in the operation to clear the heavily contested village of IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) to allow civilian families to return and regeneration to take place. The soldiers pictured are equipped with a variety of weapons suited to their counter-insurgency role, including a shotgun and a Minimi machine gun.
