Lance Corporal Leonora Brajshor was born in Kosovo, moved to the United Kingdom in 1998 and joined the British Army in 2013. Brajshor's potential as a power lifter was spotted during an assessment day for the Army Elite Sport Programme, a joint venture between UK Sport, the British Army and the English Institute of Sport. Brajshor won her category at the Full Power Army Championships in 2014 and gained first prize in her category at the British National Championships in 2015.
