In 2011, 102 Theatre Military Working Dog Support Unit were based at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. The unit employed a variety of dog breeds including Cocker Spaniels, German Shepherds and Labrador Retrievers. The dogs were used primarily for security and search purposes.
