Studio portrait photograph of General Sir Frederick William Hamilton (1815-1890), Grenadier Guards, wearing his Crimean War campaign medal. Hamilton served in the Crimean War (1854-1856) and commanded the Brigade of Guards from 1868 to 1870. He retired with the rank of general in 1 July 1881.
