Royal Engineers clearing hurricane debris on Grand Turk Island, 2017
Digital photograph by Corporal Darren Legg, Royal Logistic Corps, 2017.
British troops deployed to several Caribbean islands, including the Turks and Caicos, in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, which was one of the strongest storms ever to hit the region. They worked closely with local governments to re-establish communications, make important buildings like hospitals and schools safe, and repair key infrastructure such as water treatment facilities.
