'Hail, Kitchener! Victor and Peacemaker!', 1902

General Lord Kitchener is shown wearing armour, ringing a horse with a classically dressed figure leading the horse. Kitchener was Commander-in-Chief of the British forces in South Africa from November 1900. Following the signing of the Treaty of Vereeniging he returned to England, arriving in Southampton on 12 July 1900 to a hero's welcome.
