Cap badge, Royal Armoured Corps, sealed pattern, 1942

Badge in the form of an armoured fist, surmounted by crown, with four curved arrows. The badge is mounted on an Inspectorate of Clothing Ministry of Supply sealed pattern card. 'Sealed patterns' are prototypes of items that the British Army issued to soldiers.

Abram Games designed the cap badge for the newly-created corps. The armoured fist is symbolic of the strength of the armoured corps and the concentric circles with arrowheads represent the power of this mechanised force combining manoeuvrability, firepower and protection.
