Sandbags and equipment in 'Stafford Gully', 1915

Photograph, World War One, Gallipoli (1915).

Stafford Gully was a branch of Hay Valley in the northern sector of Anzac Cove. Like all the ridges and gullies at Anzac, it was lined with tenches and dugouts in which the soldiers sheltered from constant Turkish artillery and sniper fire.

From a scrapbook containing 143 photographs, 1901-1940. Inscribed on cover 'C E Pym, 5th Lancers'.
