'Brighton Road', 1915 (c)

Photograph, World War One, Gallipoli (1915).

Located in the southern part of Anzac Cove, Brighton Road ran southward from Hell Spit to Gaba Tepe. Like the rest of Anzac, it was lined with tenches and dugouts in which the soldiers sheltered from constant Turkish artillery and sniper fire.

From a scrapbook containing 143 photographs, 1901-1940. Inscribed on cover 'C E Pym, 5th Lancers'.
