Stretcher bearers from the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) stand on a road in Fonquevillers, March 1917

Lantern slide, World War One, Western Front (1914-1918), 1917.

The bearers all wear their steel Brodie helmets and carry box respirators around their necks. Several of the soldiers carry an empty stretcher.
