1914-15 Star awarded to Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur O'Brien Ffrench Blake, 10th Battalion ,(Yeomanry) The Buffs (East Kent Regiment)

Bronze four-pointed star surmounted by a crown, with two crossed swords beneath a scroll bearing the medal's year range, '1914-15', within a wreath of oak leaves bearing the royal cypher for King George V, 'GV'. The reverse is unadorned save for the recipient's rank, name and unit. The medal ribbon has red, white and blue watered and shadowed stripes.

Lieutenant-Colonel Ffrench Blake (1879-1973) served as a Squadron Commander with the Royal East Kent Yeomanry at Gallipoli in 1915. He went on to serve in Egypt and Palestine. He was transferred to command 2nd/5th Battalion, Hampshire Regiment in April 1918 and in August 1918, commanded 1st/4th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment.

The 1914-15 Star was established in December 1918 and over 2,300,000 were awarded to British and Imperial soldiers who participated in World War One between 5 August 1914 and 31 December 1915.
