Allied Victory Medal, Lieutenant Arthur O'Brien Ffrench Blake, 10th Battalion (Yeomanry) The Buffs (East Kent Regiment)
Circular, bronze medal designed by William McMillan with a figure of Winged Victory holding a palm branch on the obverse. On the reverse, the inscription, 'The Great War for Civilisation 1914-1919', within a laurel wreath. The medal is suspended from a double rainbow coloured medal ribbon.
During World War One (1914-1918), Ffrench Blake served as a Squadron Commander with the Royal East Kent Yeomanry on W Beach, Cape Helles at Gallipoli, then in Egypt and Palestine. He was transferred to command 2/5 Battalion Hampshire Regiment in April 1918 and in August, 1/4th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment.
