Both men were members of the East African Reconnaissance Regiment of 11th East African Division. Their tank is a Stuart Light Tank, the British designation given to the American M3, and is armed with a 37 mm gun.

From an album of 147 photographs associated with Brig M W Briggs, the 11th East African Division and the King's African Rifles.
