In 1908 the Imperial Yeomanry, of which the Hertfordshire Yeomanry was part, was combined with the Volunteer Force to form the cavalry arm of the new Territorial Force. On mobilisation in August 1914 the Hertfordshire Yeomanry were attached to the Eastern Mounted Brigade. They later moved to Egypt and then Gallipoli with the Yeomanry Mounted Brigade.
