Field Service Postcard, 6 December 1915

Associated with World War One, Gallipoli, 1915.

Field Service postcards were a way of sending a quick message home. Unlike traditional letters they were not subject to censorship because soldiers were only permitted to delete the appropriate phrases, and sign and date the message. Christmas messages, were however permitted during the festive period.

This card sent from Gallipoli by G H Minn in 1915, has the optional phrases crossed out, and n the only permitted additional line 'Christmas Greetings' written at the top.
