Lieutenant-General William, 1st Earl of Craven, 1815 (c)

Aide-de-camp to King George III. Craven succeeded his father as 7th Baron Craven in 1791. He was commissioned into the 43rd (or Monmouthshire) Regiment of Foot in 1793, and subsequently served with the 80th and 84th Regiments. In 1798 he was appointed aide-de-camp to the King this was followed by active service in Holland and the Mediterranean. In 1801 he was created Earl of Craven, becoming lieutenant-general in 1811 and general in 1825.
