The print includes the crossed colours of the regiment above a framed illustration of soldiers from the regiment in various uniforms with a drummer in the centre. The frame has an entwined scroll with numerous battle honours.

The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment was initially formed with two battalions, the 1st being created from the former 47th (Lancashire) Regiment of Foot and the 2nd from the 81st (Loyal Lincoln Volunteers). The print features these regimental numbers and the dates '1741' and '1793'.

The regiment's depot was at Fulwood Barracks, Preston, a link to the area that remains unbroken to this day, with recruitment for the regiment focussing on towns in central Lancashire like Bolton, Chorley, Preston and Wigan.
