Graves at Ajax Bay, including that of Lieutenant-Colonel Herbert 'H' Jones VC, 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, 1982
Photograph by WO2 David Langham, 81 Ordnance Company, Royal Army Ordnance Corps, South Atlantic (Falklands War) (1982).
During the fighting at Goose Green on 28-29 May 1982, Lieutenant-Colonel Jones seized a sub-machine gun and with total disregard for his own safety, charged the nearest Argentine position. As he approached the enemy he was seen to fall; however he picked himself up and charged the trench firing his weapon. He was mortally hit only a few feet from the enemy.
From a collection of photographs relating to the South Atlantic (Falklands War) (1982), April - July 1982, by WO2 David Langham, 81 Ordnance Company, Royal Army Ordnance Corps.
