The Menin Road to Ypres, 1918

The Menin Road was the main route running east from the Belgian town of Ypres. The area adjacent to the road was devastated by German shellfire. By 1918 it was a desolate landscape marked with flooded shell-holes, shattered trees and the detritus of war.
