Webley and Scott .455/.476 inch Army Model revolver used by Major-General Charles Townshend in Mesopotamia, 1915 (c)

Townsend used this weapon during the ill-fated advance on Baghdad in 1915. It is inscribed with the names of the battles at Ctesiphon and Qurna (spelt Korna) and the Siege of Kut (spelt Cut). The latter engagement saw Townsend surrender his 6th Indian Division to the Turks in April 1916.
