'4th City of London Battalion Royal Fusiliers', 1915
Chromolithograph recruiting poster after Savile Lumley, issued by the City of London Territorial Force Association, printed by Johnson, Riddle and Company Limited, London, 1915.
A column of soldiers marches past a gateway where two women stand watching.
Unlike most British infantry regiments, in August 1914 the Royal Fusiliers had four Regular battalions. The 4th deployed with the British Expeditionary Force that month and went straight into the line with 3rd Division, seeing action at the Battle of Mons (23 August 1914).
