Ruins in Combles,1918

The village of Combles on the Somme was captured on 26 September 1916 during the Battle of Morval (25-28 September 1916) by the 56th (London) Division and the 2nd French Division. It remained in Allied hands until 24 March 1918, when the place was captured during the German Spring Offensive. It was retaken on 29 August 1918 by the 18th (Eastern) Division.
