Landing horses in Salonika, 1916 (c)

Photograph, World War One, Salonika (1914-1918), 1916 (c).

Without horses, the various armies could not have functioned during the war. They were vital for the cavalry, but also needed for moving supplies, equipment, guns and ammunition, and for transporting the wounded to hospital.
